Part 1

In this study, we’re going to look at various references to women in Scripture and extract the general lesson for us Christian women. Let us begin.
Woman was made from the literal body of man. Not from his head, not from his feet; from his side. There to support him, not be less than him or better than him. She was created from him, which indicates that she is in a position to be submissive to his authority. On the other hand, a man is to leave his own family to be with his wife; this represents his love and respect for her and her family.
Women are intellectual beings that are readily influenced and have a large umbrella of influence. Because of this, women must be careful, filtering both what comes into their minds and what comes out through their mouths and attitudes.
Women need to be aware of the draw that men have to them. They should not be focused on this problem, only mindful. They must be careful of what they are encouraging.
Women ought to be servant-hearted and eager to help. She must have faith and trust in God for her future and be willing to follow where He leads. Godly women must remain virgins until marriage.
Women should be protective by nature, but ultimately trust God with the things under her care. Also, women must be watchful for the needs of others and be quick to offer help if she is able.
Monogamy is the only option for a godly woman, and heterosexual relationships (one man and one woman) are the rule. Women cannot shrug off having various involved relationships. The goal is to be pure until marriage and to stay married once you are.
Women are not to re-marry if they have been divorced.
Women must teach their children respect for God and for others.
Women are to be wholly faithful to their husbands, not provoking them to jealousy or seeking attention from elsewhere, even if her marriage seems to be lacking.
While still virgins, women are under the charge of their fathers. A woman cannot commit or promise something without her father or husband’s approval.
Women are not to dress like men. This doesn’t mean wearing skirts or dresses all the time, nor does it mean to flaunt your femininity.
Women are to support the integrity of their husbands and their families. They are to be virtuous and loyal; a blessing to those around them.
Women are to exercise good understanding and have a countenance that reflects her God. Women are to have sound reasoning and a cool head.
Women are to be wise; peacemakers.
Women are to be brave and courageous to do what is right in the face of danger.
Next time, we’ll look at references in the Psalms and Proverbs!
